Can I Register to Vote?
In order to register to vote in New York State, you must:
- be a U.S. citizen
- be 18 years old by the date of the election
- be a resident of the state, county, city, or village where you plan to vote for at least 30 days before the date of the election
- not be in prison for a felony conviction (once released from prison, you are eligible to register, regardless of parole or community supervision status)
- not be adjudged mentally incompetent by a court
- not claim the right to vote elsewhere
